Die evangelische Johanneskirche wurde von 1864 bis 1876 im neugotischen Stil vom Architekt Christian Friedrich von Leins erbaut und liegt idyllisch auf einer Halbinsel im Löschteich Feuersee. Sie war der erste nachmittelalterliche Kirchenneubau in Stuttgart und ist ein typisches Bauwerk des Historismus, dessen Vorbild die französische Hochgotik war.
Die Johanneskirche wurde im 2. Weltkrieg schwer getroffen und danach von 1948 bis 1966 wiederaufgebaut. Die fehlende Spitze, die beim Wiederaufbau durch eine Plattform mit Brüstung ersetzt wurde, gilt auch heute noch als Mahnmal gegen den Krieg.

The Evangelical St. John's Church was built from 1864 to 1876 in the neo-Gothic style by the architect Christian Friedrich von Leins and is idyllically situated on a peninsula in the fire pond Feuersee. It was the first post-medieval church construction in Stuttgart and is a typical building of historicism, whose model was the French High Gothic.
The Johanneskirche was severely hit in World War II and then rebuilt from 1948 to 1966. The missing tip, which was replaced during reconstruction by a platform with parapet, is still considered a memorial against the war today.
