Construction of the Palais de Chaillot for the Universal Exhibition of 1937.
The neoclassical building with the large curved wings replaced the Palais du Trocadero; this was worn down to the side wings and the huge main midsection were not replaced. The new open space offers the today ost popular view of the Eiffel Tower. Also the Jardin du Trocadéro with its large terraces and fountains was redesigned.
