Der Dom zu Halle ist das älteste noch vorhandene Kirchengebäude in der Altstadt von Halle. Hier residierten die Erzbischöfe von Magdeburg für lange Zeit als Landesherren der Stadt. Die Kirche von Kardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg sollte, zusammen mit der nebenan erbauten Neuen Residenz, Teil des einflussreichsten, mächtigsten und repräsentativsten Stifts nördlich der Alpen werden. Der Dom befindet sich im Eigentum der Kulturstiftung Sachsen-Anhalt.

The Halle Cathedral is the oldest church building still in existence in the old town of Halle. The archbishops of Magdeburg resided here for a long time as rulers of the city. The church of Cardinal Albrecht von Brandenburg, together with the New Residence built next door, was to become part of the most influential, powerful and representative monastery north of the Alps. The cathedral is owned by the Saxony-Anhalt Cultural Foundation.
