Der römisch-katholische Dom St. Peter in Osnabrück ist die Kathedrale des Bistums Osnabrück. Der Dom ist ein spätromanisches Bauwerk und prägt seit seiner Entstehung die Silhouette der Stadt. Im Abstand von mehr als anderthalb Jahrhunderten gingen die gotischen Turmhelme der Westtürme verloren und wurden durch barocke Hauben ersetzt, 1606 der nördliche, 1769–1771 der südliche. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurden das Domdach mit den barocken Hauben und Kirchenanbauten durch Brandbomben zerstört. Beim Wiederaufbau erhielten die Türme Pyramidendächer geringer Höhe, die den überwiegend romanischen Charakter des Kirchenäußeren betonen. The Roman Catholic Cathedral of St. Peter in Osnabrück is the cathedral of the Diocese of Osnabrück. The cathedral is a late Romanesque building and has shaped the city's silhouette since its construction. Over a century and a half apart, the Gothic spires of the western towers were lost and replaced by baroque hoods, the northern one in 1606 and the southern one in 1769–1771. During the Second World War, the cathedral roof with the baroque domes and church extensions were destroyed by fire bombs. During the reconstruction, the towers were given low-height pyramid roofs, which emphasize the predominantly Romanesque character of the church exterior.
