View of the Neue Burg in Vienna from Heldenplatz. It was built between 1881 and 1913 as the youngest part of the Hofburg.
At the time of the old photo, the Prince Eugene Monument was walled off to protect it from bombs. The Nazis used the castle as an exhibition space for propaganda and stolen works of art. Today it houses reading rooms and several museums, including the House of Austrian History and the World Museum.
