The World ist eine auf der Basis von Felsschüttungen aus verdichtetem Sand aufgespülte künstliche Inselgruppe in Dubai, Vereinigte Arabische Emirate, 4−10 km vor der Küste des Stadtteils Jumeirah. Die 300 Inseln sind in Form einer Weltkarte angeordnet und stellen Kontinente und Länder der Erde dar, wobei jeweils mehrere kleinere Länder zusammengefasst wurden. Die frei verkäuflichen Inseln werden eine Größe zwischen 23.000 m² und 87.000 m² haben und ausschließlich per Boot oder Hubschrauber zu erreichen sein (zitiert aus Wikipedia).
The World is an artificial archipelago built on the basis of compacted sand piles in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 4-10 km off the coast of the Jumeirah district. The 300 islands are arranged in the form of a world map and represent continents and countries of the earth, whereby in each case several smaller countries were summarized. The islands will be between 23,000 m² and 87,000 m² and can only be accessed by boat or helicopter (quoted from Wikipedia).
