Skrzyżowanie ulicy Ratajczaka i placu Wolności. Widoczna zniszczona w roku 1945 narożna kamienica oraz sprzątający gruzy poznańczycy. Na ścianie budynku tablica upamiętniająca patrona ulicy.
Franciszek Ratajczak po rewolucji listopadowej 1918 roku, został skierowany do Poznania, by pomóc w organizacji ruchu niepodległościowego. Na początku grudnia 1918 wraz z grupą ludzi został przydzielony do oddziałów Służby Straży i Bezpieczeństwa stacjonujących w Forcie Raucha (Berdychowo) pod dow. por. Ed. Krauzego. W dniu wybuchu powstania wielkopolskiego 27 grudnia 1918 wraz z całym oddziałem został skierowany do zamku cesarskiego, w celu wzmocnienia stacjonującej tam polskiej załogi. Ostrzeliwany przez niemieckich grenadierów pluton, w którym służył, nacierał na prezydium policji. W czasie ataku został ciężko ranny i w godzinach wieczornych zmarł. Pochowano go w grobowcu powstańców wielkopolskich na Cmentarzu Górczyńskim w Poznaniu.

Franciszek Ratajczak after the November 1918 revolution, he was directed to Poznań to help organize the independence movement. At the beginning of December 1918, together with a group of people, he was assigned to the branches of the Guard and Security Service stationed in Fort Raucha (Berdychowo) under the command compare Ed. Krauze. On the day of the outbreak of the Wielkopolska Uprising on December 27, 1918, together with the whole unit, he was sent to the Imperial Castle in order to strengthen the Polish crew stationed there. The platoon, in which he served, fired by the German grenadiers, attacked the police presidium. He was seriously injured during the attack and died in the evening. He was buried in the tomb of Greater Poland insurgents at the Górczyński Cemetery in Poznań.
