Salgado setzt sich gegen Abholzung ein. Er ließ in Brasilien auf der Bulcão Farm seiner Familie zweieinhalb Millionen Regenwaldbäume pflanzen, wodurch sich lokales Klima und Wasserhaushalt von der vorhergegangenen Versteppung wieder erholten. Sebastião Ribeiro Salgado Júnior (born February 8, 1944 in Aimorés, Minas Gerais State) is a Brazilian photographer, photojournalist and environmental activist.
Salgado is committed to deforestation. In Brazil, he planted two and a half million rainforest trees on his family's Bulcão farm, recovering the local climate and water balance from the previous desertification.
