Rynek Starego Miasta (strona Zakrzewskiego).

Old Town Market Square (Zakrzewski side). The upper photo shows its condition a year after the liquidation of the town market and the tidying up of the square, which took place in 1913. Later, after Poland regained independence, most of the houses were restored, thanks to which their facades gained decorative polychromes (1928). The bottom photo shows the condition of buildings during the war during the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944.

@nwolpert
In 1944, during the Warsaw Uprising, the buildings of the Old Town were destroyed in approx. 90%. Six houses out of over 260 survived. The Old Town is the only area in the world (in this scale) of the planned and completed reconstruction of the area of historic urban buildings after catastrophic damage reaching about 90%.
Yes, the houses have been restored in detail, please see this site https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stare_Miasto_w_Warszawie#/media/Plik:Rynek_Starego_Miasta_w_Warszawie_strona_Zakrzewskiego_2018.jpg

When I visited Warsaw I found it hard to believe that most houses were destroyed during the Uprising. They were indeed restored with great attention to detail!
