Kostel byl postavený v letech 1864–1877 podle plánů Heinricha Ferstela z Vídně v novogotickém slohu. Délka výstavby byla způsobena tím, že stavba, kromě pozemku, byla financována z darů a výtěžků ze sbírek; navíc musela být v době Prusko-rakouské války pozastavena (v průběhu války v ní byli mj. ubytováni vojáci).
The church was built in 1864–1877 according to the plans of Heinrich Ferstel of Vienna in neo-Gothic style. The length of construction was due to the fact that the construction, apart from the land, was financed by donations and proceeds from the collections; moreover, it had to be suspended during the Prussian-Austrian War (during the war, it was inter alia housed soldiers).
