The Porte d’Aix is a triumphal arch on the Place Jules-Guesde in Marseille. The name stems from the location on the road leading to Aix-en-Provence. Many houses next to the arch were removed in 1971 for the construction of a new freeway leading directly into the historic town center. The square around the arch was recently upgraded as part of an urban renewal program and has been traffic-calmed since then.
