The Masonic Building on the southeast corner of Main and High Streets was built between 1878 and 1879. The People's National Bank began business there in 1893. The bank reorganized into the Waldo Trust Company in 1904, then went bankrupt in 1927 after a scandal. At the time the original photograph was taken, the building's upstairs offices were occupied by the dentist Dr. Webber and the insurance company James Pattee and Son. It is now home to the Out on a Whimsey toy store.
