Remains of the old fortifications in Dreux, seen from the Boulevard des Maillotières.
Due to its location on the border between the French Crown Domain and the Duchy of Normandie, the city of Dreux has long been a bone of contention and has therefore been fortified since the 13th century. After a siege in the 16th century, the fortifications fell to ruins. To this day, some remains are left on the mountain, such as the walls and four round towers, one of which can be seen here in the picture. Today, a chapel and a cemetery can be found on the mountain between the old walls.

Du fait de son emplacement à la frontière entre le domaine de la couronne française et le duché de Normandie, la ville de Dreux est depuis longtemps une pomme de discorde et est donc fortifiée depuis le XIIIe siècle. Après un siège au 16ème siècle, les fortifications sont tombées en ruines. À ce jour, il reste des vestiges sur la montagne, tels que les murs et quatre tours rondes, dont l’une peut être vue ici sur la photo. Aujourd'hui, une chapelle et un cimetière se trouvent sur la montagne entre les vieux murs.
