Kinzua Bridge was built in 1882. Once completed it was the longest and tallest railroad structure at 2,053 feet long and 301 feet high in the world. People refereed to it as the eighth wonder of the world. In the year 1900 it was rebuilt to carry the heavier trains of the time.
On July 21st, 2003 at approx 3:15pm the bridge was struck by a F1 tornado. The winds lifted the structure off its foundation columns, collapsing the structure into the valley below.
When the above happend in 2003 I was actually riding my ATV in the storm nearby. Not knowing the incoming weather. I arrived safely at home once I realized a bad storm was approaching.

Le pont Kinzua a été construit en 1882. Une fois achevé, il s’agissait du plus long et du plus grand chemin de fer du monde, mesurant 2 053 pieds de long et 301 pieds de haut. Les gens l'ont considéré comme la huitième merveille du monde. En 1900, il a été reconstruit pour transporter les trains les plus lourds de l'époque.
Le 21 juillet 2003 vers 15 h 15, le pont a été touché par une tornade F1. Les vents ont soulevé la structure de ses colonnes de fondation, l'effondrant dans la vallée.
Lorsque ce qui précède s’est produit en 2003, je conduisais mon VTT dans la tempête à proximité. Ne sachant pas le temps qu'il fait. Je suis bien arrivé à la maison quand j'ai réalisé qu'une tempête se préparait.
