This two-story brick building on the corner of Main and Church Streets was built by Belfast merchant John Haraden in 1849. It served John and his son Daniel as a store for many years. In 1874, the Belfast Savings Bank moved into the first floor, installing a steel and iron safe - which is still in the building. The building was greatly enlarged in 1911 by adding a third story and a new corner entrance. The granite plaque with 1874 cut into it commemorates the year the bank moved in, not the year the building was built.
The building on the far left was originally a wooden house built by furniture maker Samuel Peck around 1809. It was then enlarged, encased in brick, and had a Mansard roof added by John M. Stewart in 1874. The current roof was added at a later date.
Ce bâtiment en brique de deux étages situé à l'angle des rues Main et Church Street a été construit par le marchand de Belfast John Haraden en 1849. Il a servi de magasin à John et à son fils Daniel pendant de nombreuses années. En 1874, la Belfast Savings Bank a emménagé au premier étage, y installant un coffre-fort en acier et en fer, qui se trouve toujours dans le bâtiment.
