Le Grand Rex is a Parisian cinema on Boulevard Poissonnière, next to the metro station Bonne Nouvelle. The architecture is inspired by American film palaces, it was built in 1931 and opened in 1932. During World War II, it was requisitioned by the German occupiers and served for entertainment of the soldiers, who watched propaganda films approved by the Nazi regime. During this time, it was renamed "Soldatenkino" (Soldier's Cinema).
Today it is one of the flagship cinemas of Paris, particularly known are the large previews with visits of the film teams.
Le Grand Rex est un cinéma parisien situé boulevard Poissonnière, à côté de la station de métro Bonne Nouvelle. L'architecture est inspirée des palais du cinéma américains. Elle fut construite en 1931 et ouverte en 1932. Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, elle fut réquisitionnée par l'occupant allemand et servit à divertir les soldats qui visionnaient des films de propagande approuvés par le régime nazi. Pendant ce temps, il a été renommé "Soldatenkino" (cinéma du soldat).
C'est aujourd'hui l'un des cinémas phares de Paris, notamment les grandes avant-premières avec visites des équipes de tournage.
